Dubai. In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE discussed the statements by Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen that Israel could establish sovereignty over the occupied West Bank next year. In yesterday evening's statement, the ministry categorically rejected all provocative statements and actions aimed at changing the legal status of Palestinian territory, as well as all acts that violate international legislation.
The ministry emphasized the necessity of supporting all regional and international efforts to revive the peace process in the Middle East, as well as to end illegal practices threatening the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. It also underlined the permanent commitment of the UAE to strengthening peace, justice, and protecting the rights of the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed similar concerns regarding the statements by the Israeli Foreign Minister. Aboul Gheit called for the international community to strongly react to this extremely extremist approach, which will only lead to new outbursts in the region and trigger waves of new extremism and violence.
Egypt also condemned the same statements of the Israeli Foreign Minister, categorically supporting that they represent a gross violation of international law and UN resolutions. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that such statements from Lapid reflect Israel’s rejection of peace paths and testify that Israel lacks a partner capable of courageously making decisions for peace, warning that such statements only exacerbate extremism and violence. They again highlighted the importance of protecting the rights of the Palestinian people, preceding all rights to self-determination as a practical path to concluding the conflict in the region.
