Shaqda Budbes, a player of the national UAE team in fitness and CrossFit, shared her experiences and goals. She faced strong super athletes at the championship in America, possessing considerably greater physical strength due to their weight and body size than her. However, with the help of focus and constant training, she was able to successfully overcome this challenge.
Shaqda acknowledged that her ambitions grow day by day, striving for more outstanding results than second place at the championship of Asia. Her goal is to achieve more success in international competitions. She also advised her fellow teammates to continue engaging in sports regardless of all difficulties, affirming that nothing is impossible.
Shaqda noted that she faced many challenges due to the specifics of her activities, but she continues to strive to improve her level. Participation in the recent Challenge tournament in Fujairah served for her as a step toward a gradual return to international competitions, and competing in world sports tournaments would help her develop her mastery further.
Shaqda Budbes chose this type of sport because it is full of challenges and includes various disciplines, proving her ability to withstand difficulties. She has achieved significant success in this field, becoming the first Emirati and Arab female athlete, placing second at the Asia championship in South Korea in May 2023, as well as the first Emirati and Arab participant in the World CrossFit Championship in individual competitions in Madison, USA, where 40 athletes from different countries competed.
Shaqda claims that she has every chance to win an Olympic medal for the UAE if this type of sport enters the Olympic program, and she hopes that this will happen in the near future, based on her physical, technical, and mental readiness. Involved in the challenges, Shaqda reveals that this has become her stimulus for engaging in this type of sport and achieving in it, regardless of its complexity.
