Eliza Letif, a judoka from the United Arab Emirates national team, won the gold medal at the Zagreb Grand Prix tournament, hosted by the Croatian Federation under the auspices of the International Federation. The event took place from November 14-16 and featured 48 countries. In the under-78 kg category, Eliza Letif began her campaign with victories over British Shelley Ludford, Romanian Georgita Ferranis, and Belgian Vicky. In the final, the UAE athlete overcame five-time Guinea and Africa champion Marie Branser, pinning her with an ippon in less than three minutes. This victory earned the UAE another gold medal, adding to the recent one won at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
"This was a tough fight, but I was well-prepared for the tournament and knew I could deliver my best performance," said Eliza Letif. "I am very happy to bring this medal for my country."
