In 2025, the sports sector of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) achieved extraordinary results at both regional and global levels. For the third consecutive time, UAE athletes competed in the Gulf Coast Games in Muscat, securing 23 medals – the best performance in the country’s history. At the Asian Games in Bahrain, the delegation earned 31 medals, and at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia, they collected 27 medals, surpassing all previous figures.
In team sports, the Sharjah football squad became the first UAE team to win the Asian Champions League, defeating Lion City 2–1 in Singapore. In individual disciplines, Slovene cyclist Tadi Bojčar won the world road race championship in Kigali, and the UAE XRG team claimed the title in the Poland Tour. In judo, the UAE team captured 50 medals at the World Championship in Thailand and 66 medals at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam series.
Among para-athletes, Zere Al-Kaabi took gold in the 100‑m sprint at the World Championships in New Delhi, while Mohammed Hashil Habsi became world champion in shooting on the “Terra” target in the Czech Republic, setting a new world record. In chess, player Mouza Nasir Shamshi won the World Amateur Chess Championship in Serbia. The UAE also secured major successes in karate, fencing, water sports, and equestrian events, cementing its leadership on the international stage.
