Laureate of the sports award in the field of Paralympic sport, athlete of the UAE national team and club for people with disabilities Maryam Al Zayed, described her joy at winning in the nomination "Best Paralympic Athlete" at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Award in women's sport in 2024. She called this achievement an important milestone in her sports career and motivation for continuing her path to new achievements, which will help raise the UAE flag on international podiums.
The award ceremony took place yesterday as part of the event organized by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for Women's Sports with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. Maryam Al Zayed received her first special sports award in her career, and she is happy that she was recognized within the framework of an award, which for her has become a new stimulus for achieving high standards in sports work, as well as being active in popularizing sports among women and people with disabilities.
Maryam emphasized the importance of support from sports media and shared that success in sports brings honor and recognition to labor. Her fourth place at the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 in athletics became a significant achievement for the UAE and for women-athletes at the international level.
The athlete reaffirmed her plans to get to work closer to her home in the Dibba region, as she has higher education. She expressed hope for a successful combination of sports career and work, emphasizing that giving up sports for the sake of work is not an option. In addition, Maryam is actively preparing to participate in the upcoming tournament "Phase" in Dubai, the championship of the international meeting "Sharjah" of the club "Trust" for people with disabilities, as well as in the next international competitions as part of the national team.
