The high-speed train project, witnessed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, is set to enhance the UAE's global competitiveness, support sustainable development, and reinforce the nation's status as a model for innovation and progress. It is expected to connect urban and regional routes, facilitating travel between key cities and communities across the UAE.
The project includes the introduction of four passenger rail stations in the UAE to progress towards an integrated rail network for passengers. The route will pass through strategic destinations and tourist attractions, ensuring seamless travel experiences for passengers and visitors. Moreover, the high-speed train is projected to significantly boost the UAE's socioeconomic development, tourism sector, and overall economic growth through fast, efficient, and sustainable rail transport options.
With the goal of enhancing infrastructure, the project marks a close collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and the Dubai Executive Council. Tenders for project contracts have been issued, and network designs have received approval to advance the development of the high-speed train project. Under the oversight of Etihad Rail, the high-speed train is expected to operate at speeds of up to 350 km/h, allowing travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in just 30 minutes. The ceremony culminated with the signing of a Cooperation Charter by the Secretary-Generals of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and the Executive Council of Dubai, solidifying the commitment to this transformative project.
