Record Number of Active Business Licenses in UAE

Recent data from the National Economic Register shows 971,000 active commercial licenses registered in the UAE as of January. Dubai holds 59% of these, totaling 573,000 licenses. This reflects the significant economic activity and growth in the UAE as a major commercial and investment hub.

According to the latest data from the national economic registry, belonging to the Ministry of Economy, the total number of active commercial licenses registered in the country reached 971 thousand by the end of last January — this is the highest number of licenses registered in the country, which indicates significant economic and commercial activity in the United Arab Emirates, as well as their growth as an important trading and investment center in the region and the world.

According to yesterday's data, Dubai controls 59% of the total number of issued commercial licenses in the country, which amounts to approximately 573 thousand licenses. Only in January of last year, more than 21 thousand new licenses were registered in the country.

The national economic registry showed that most of the registered licenses in the country were issued by local economic authorities in various emirates — about 752 thousand licenses.

By the end of last January, in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, 171 thousand licenses had been registered, in the emirate of Sharjah — 111 thousand licenses, and in Ras al-Khaimah — 61.5 thousand licenses. The remaining licenses were distributed between Ajman, Fujairah, and Umm al-Quwain.
