Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai recently met with a delegation from e& UAE to explore the use of future technologies in mobility and communications. The potential strategies discussed include creating a fully flexible and scalable digital infrastructure, achieving fintech-enabled mobility at 100%, increasing the digital adoption rate of services to 95%, empowering all employees digitally, and developing 50 AI use cases.
Mohammed Al Mudharreb, CEO of RTA's Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, emphasized the commitment of RTA to drive digital innovation and enhance the future of transportation in Dubai. The collaboration aims to advance mobility infrastructure and create innovative solutions tailored to the requirements of the digital era.
The meeting delved into leveraging advanced technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance smart mobility services. The focus is on delivering solutions that improve the comfort, safety, and overall quality of life for public transport users in Dubai.
Participants at the workshop proposed various ideas for further exploration, which included Mobility-as-a-Service platforms, 5G technology integration in public transport, vehicle connectivity through IoT, and incorporating communication towers into smart city infrastructure.
RTA presented its digital initiatives across seven key areas—digital twin technology, metaverse, robotics, ecosystems, enterprise solutions, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and IoT. Their goal is to utilize 5G technology for real-time traffic management, adopt AI-driven solutions for seamless travel experiences, and leverage IoT to develop smarter and safer infrastructure.
Abdullah Al Ahmad, Acting Senior Vice President for Government Sales and Key Accounts at e& UAE, expressed the belief that advanced digital technologies and innovative solutions play a crucial role in propelling digital transformation and shaping the future of smart mobility. e& UAE is dedicated to providing a sophisticated digital infrastructure that enhances transport services' quality and efficiency by utilizing 5G networks, AI applications, and IoT solutions.
These initiatives are part of RTA's Digital Strategy 2023-2030, Phase I, which includes 82 projects and initiatives aimed at establishing Dubai as the world's smartest city.
