Dubai Launches Upgraded Marine Transport System

To enhance the capabilities of passenger transport in maritime transport and strengthen connectivity within the public transport system of Dubai, digital information tables were presented for the first time. The fourth generation of traditional ABRs (ferries-taxis) meets the highest safety standards, ecological sustainability, and aims to increase the attractiveness of the city for tourists.

Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, General Director of the Public Transport Agency RTA, noted: "This step reflects our commitment to improving the quality of service and the overall experience for passengers in maritime transport in conjunction with our strategic goals."

Updated ABRs can accommodate up to 24 passengers (previously - 20) and comply fully with Dubai's universal design standards, ensuring safety, accessibility, and comfort for all passengers. The goal is to improve the experience of daily passengers and provide a tighter integration of maritime transport with public transport.

Among the enhancements are improved seating, quality flooring, and effective devices with separate zones for people with limited capabilities. In addition, a range of technological enhancements has been introduced, including intelligent systems for public transport, information screens for passengers in real-time, and notification systems about safety.

RTA also received certificates confirming compliance with the safety standards of the Gosstandart for maritime transport.
