Dubai Launches Ambitious Urban Development Plans

Within its operational framework, the Dubai Urban Planning Committee has achieved significant results. Among them is the planning of more than 17,400 residential units for citizens, the development of a law on urban planning, master plans for rural and desert areas of Dubai, and also a master plan for community development. The Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan aims to achieve several strategic goals, particularly the development of integrated communities, corresponding to the highest planning standards, taking into account green zones, commercial centers, and recreational areas to improve the quality of life. "Last year marked the launch period for several strategic programs aimed at the development of Dubai and strengthening its global competitiveness under our leadership," noted Al Tayer. In the framework of these initiatives, 450 million square feet of land was allocated for housing citizens, and more than 50 master plans and projects were considered and approved in conjunction with the Dubai Economic Program D33, aimed at doubling Dubai's economy and achieving third place among the world’s leading economies by 2033. "Since its inception in March 2021, the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning has realized a number of key initiatives within the framework of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. Among all initiatives, the most significant is the Quality of Life Strategy for Dubai until 2033," emphasized Al Tayer. One of the approved strategies is a plan for the development of green space in the Dubai metro area, aimed at optimizing land use around the metro stations. Dubai continues to strive for improved urban planning, positioning itself as a global leader in innovative planning. Initiatives such as increasing green zones, recreational areas, and public parks, as well as developing economic activities aimed at strengthening Dubai's position as a global economic and logistics hub. "Additionally, our efforts will be focused on the beauty strategies of the emirate and the development of projects in the rural areas of Dubai to enhance the experience of both local residents and visitors," added Al Tayer. The chairman of the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning also noted that a strategy for transport-oriented development was approved, aimed at optimizing land use around the Dubai metro stations and supporting the concept of "emirate within a 20-minute distance" by increasing the use of the metro and sustainable transport.
