DP World Announces New Economic Partnership

The international port group DP World has announced plans to open a second container terminal on the island of Jebel Ali in Dubai. This terminal will be named "Jebel Ali 2" and will have a total cost of 305 million dollars.

It is expected that upon completion of the project, the volume of container handling on the island of Jebel Ali will increase to 3.1 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) annually. In total, "Jebel Ali 1" and "Jebel Ali 2" will be able to handle up to 5.4 million TEU of cargo per year.

"The new terminal will include 1.5 kilometers of traditional line and 18 cranes for servicing containers, which will increase the throughput capacity of the port and make it more effective for processing cargo," - said the chief executive director of DP World.
