The Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, in cooperation with Emirates NBD, organized the first 'Scream Programming Hackathon' as part of the UAE's 'UAE Codes' Programming Day, which the country celebrates every October 29. The UAE's Programming Day coincides with the anniversary of the launch of the first e-government in the region by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, in 2001, which UNESCO recognized as World Programming Day. The Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, Omar Sultan Al Olma, confirmed that 'the UAE Codes event embodies the forward-looking vision of the UAE's leadership that programming is the language of the future that will shape the world of tomorrow, and that the UAE government continues to translate this vision and solidify this approach by investing in developing the skills of national cadres, empowering them to innovate, and enhancing their capabilities and skills through strategic partnerships with various sectors through advanced initiatives and programs that support achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence.' He added that 'building a generation of AI leaders requires keeping pace with the rapid and evolving changes in the fields of programming and artificial intelligence,' noting that the partnership with Emirates NBD to organize the 'Scream Programming Hackathon' represents a practical model for supporting innovation in the banking sector and contributing to achieving national goals in digital transformation and the knowledge-based economy.' Miguel Rio Tinto, Group Chief Executive for Digital and IT at Emirates NBD, stated that 'the bank's adoption of Agile methodologies has brought a radical transformation to its organizational structure, enabling it to mobilize over 3,500 functional roles across engineering, digital technology, design, and business to develop leading digital products, which has accelerated operational efficiency and financial performance and enhanced the bank's regional standing in innovation, digitalization, and technological development.'
