Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo arm of the world's largest international airline, has announced the renewal of its trucking fleet by adding the latest 'Euro 6' models of 'MAN' trucks, in cooperation with 'Al-Tadamun Transport'. Emirates SkyCargo becomes the first airline in the region to adopt heavy-duty 'Euro 6' trucks for long-distance operations, introducing 40 new vehicles featuring the latest in trucking technology into its ground operations.
The 'Euro 6' truck engines are compliant with the highest global environmental emission standards, leading to a significant reduction in harmful pollutant levels compared to previous models. By replacing 40 trucks in its current fleet with 40 'Euro 6' models, Emirates SkyCargo expects to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from road transport by 17% annually, a step that reinforces the airline's commitment to fuel efficiency and emission reduction initiatives in its ground operations.
First Vice President of Emirates Airline for Cargo Department, Badr Abbas, stated: 'The addition of 'Euro 6' trucks to our fleet marks a significant step in our journey towards more sustainable operations and our investment in future technologies that will support the next phase of growth. We anticipate continued growth in cargo volumes to and from Dubai, driven by the ambitious goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda, and we are ready to play our part in boosting global trade by employing the right equipment and infrastructure through our various operations.'
Emirates SkyCargo transports over 1,000 tons of cargo daily, with its truck fleet serving as a vital link between Al Maktum International Airport and Dubai International Airport, traversing the 77-kilometer land route six times a day. This investment in the new fleet is a strategic move that enhances operational efficiency and sets new standards for the operational performance of the airline's ground operations.
