Consumers are criticizing discount coupons offered by some retail outlets along with purchase receipts. According to buyers, these coupons include a very limited and repetitive range of products, such as printers, cameras, and headphones, which are not a priority or a real need for them. They note that many of these items are high-priced, and the discount percentage is minimal, which is not encouraging for their use. Furthermore, the coupons contain several restrictions that diminish their value: they cannot be exchanged for cash, can only be used at the same retail point where the purchase was made, and are valid only for specific items. Consumers are calling for an expansion of the product range in coupons, inclusion of new, more in-demand items, an increase in discount rates, and the option for cash redemption.
In turn, representatives of retail outlets state that these coupons provide added value for consumers, allowing them to purchase several items with significant discounts, often exceeding 10%, especially on electronics that are rarely included in promotions. They also mentioned that some retailers are currently exploring ways to develop these coupons in cooperation with suppliers and manufacturers to maximize consumer benefits in various forms.
