Emirates, the world's largest international airline, has announced an order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft powered by GE9X engines, valued at $38 billion (approximately AED 139.5 billion), on the first day of the Dubai Airshow 2025. With this announcement, Emirates' total orders with Boeing increase to 315 wide-body aircraft, comprising 270 777-9s, 10 cargo F777s, and 35 787s. The total order for GE9X engines from GE Aerospace also rises to 540, including 130 additional engines ordered today. This reflects a long-term commitment to the U.S. aerospace sector, supporting hundreds of thousands of high-value industrial jobs in the U.S. market. The recent agreement with Boeing also provides a strong boost to the feasibility study for developing the larger 777-10 variant within the 777X family, as the airline has signed options to convert its new orders from the 777-9 to the 777-10 or 777-8. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates and Group, said: 'Emirates is the world's largest operator of Boeing 777 aircraft, and today we are reinforcing our commitment by ordering 65 additional 777-9 aircraft valued at $38 billion, along with 130 GE9X engines. This investment extends our deep partnership with Boeing and GE Aerospace and is a key pillar of support for the U.S. aerospace industry.' He added: 'Every aircraft within this order was approved against stringent criteria to ensure alignment with Emirates' future roadmap, the needs of our expanding global network, and Dubai's developmental plans.'
