Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) have signed a three-year bilateral partnership agreement. Under the agreement, DEWA will continue its role as a partner of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, while Masdar, the host of the 'Week', will continue its role as the main sponsor of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), organized by the Authority. A statement issued yesterday stated that the agreement, signed by DEWA's Managing Director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer and Masdar's CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, aims to unify efforts and exchange expertise between the two parties to accelerate a qualitative leap in the global energy sector and enhance sustainable development within and outside the United Arab Emirates, in line with the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 Climate Strategy and Dubai's Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 100% of Dubai's power generation from clean sources by 2050. Under this partnership, both parties will work closely to enhance the content and impact of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and WETEX, and to strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors, in addition to stimulating investments in renewable energy and clean technologies. Al Tayer confirmed that the Authority, in line with the wise leadership's directives, is keen to strengthen ties of partnership and cooperation with Masdar, and to exchange the best expertise and prominent global practices, which contributes to advancing the journey of sustainable development. For his part, Al Ramahi said: 'This agreement is an extension of our strong partnership with DEWA, through which we continue to cooperate to implement a number of the most important clean energy projects in the UAE. With the significant development taking place in the global energy sector, it has become essential for institutions like Masdar and DEWA to play a leading role by taking bold and decisive steps that contribute to accelerating sustainable economic, social, and environmental progress'.
