DEWA Signs AED 289M Contract for Dubai Water Network Development

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a new contract worth AED 289 million to develop the water transmission network linked to the 'Hassyan' project in Dubai. This project is one of the largest seawater desalination plants in the world using reverse osmosis technology, and is being developed by DEWA under the Independent Water Producer model.

The contract includes the supply, installation, testing, and operation of 32 km of glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) pipelines with a diameter of 1200 mm.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, stated: "The Hassyan project is a key pillar in supporting Dubai's water security system. It enhances the UAE's Water Security Strategy 2036 and Dubai's Integrated Water Resources Management Strategy 2030." He added that the new lines will contribute to enhancing the network's flexibility and its ability to meet the growing water demand, which boosts sustainability and reliability for future generations.

The project is expected to be completed within 18 months, contributing to the development of Dubai's advanced water infrastructure.
