International provider of airport and airline data, OAG, revealed in its annual report on the world's busiest airports for 2025 that Dubai International Airport has maintained its position as the world's largest international transport hub in terms of scheduled seats on international flights. The report indicates that Dubai's seat capacity surpassed that of London Heathrow, the world's second-busiest international airport, by 13.53 million seats. OAG's report highlighted a strong annual growth in the seat capacity for airlines at Dubai International Airport, which increased by 4% year-on-year, now exceeding 2019 levels by 16%. According to data obtained by 'Emirates Today', Dubai Airport recorded 62.43 million seats on international outbound flights in the past year (124.86 million seats in total). London Heathrow ranked second in terms of seat capacity on international flights with approximately 48.9 million seats, a 1% increase from 2024. Seoul Incheon Airport came in third with 43 million international seats, a 3% rise compared to 2024, followed by Singapore Airport in fourth with 42.6 million seats. Amsterdam Airport secured fifth place with about 41.33 million seats. In the index for combined international and domestic seat capacity, OAG's report showed that Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport topped the list with a total of 63.1 million seats. Dubai International Airport ranked second, followed by Tokyo Haneda in third with 55.4 million seats. London Heathrow came fourth with approximately 52.1 million seats, and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport ranked fifth with 51.24 million seats. Dubai International Airport continued to break its own records for quarterly passenger traffic in its 65-year history during the third quarter of 2025, handling 24.2 million passengers between July and September, a 1.9% increase from the previous year. This exceptional performance in Q3 contributed to raising the total number of passengers in the first nine months of the year to 70.1 million, a 2.1% increase over the same period in 2024. In December 2025, Dubai International Airport set a new record for monthly passenger traffic in its 65-year history, processing around 8.8 million passengers, compared to 8.3 million in December 2024. Dubai Airport recorded 62.43 million seats on international outbound flights in 2025.
