Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), revealed that the network of 'Green Charger' stations has expanded to over 1,860 charging points across Dubai, including DEWA-licensed stations, in collaboration with public and private sector entities. He stated that by mid-January 2026, the number of registered users in the 'Green Charger' initiative reached 23,600. In a statement released by the authority yesterday, Al Tayer mentioned that since the initiative's launch in 2014, DEWA has provided over 55,200 megawatt-hours of electricity, enabling electric vehicles to travel more than 276 million kilometers. He added: 'We are working to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to establish Dubai as a global leader in the transition to a green economy and sustainable mobility, and one of the world's most future-ready cities.' Al Tayer continued: 'We continue our efforts to enhance green mobility infrastructure, supporting the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 Strategy and Dubai's Green Mobility Strategy 2030, which aims to encourage the use of environmentally friendly transport modes in line with the emirate's goals for sustainability, air quality, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.' He confirmed that the expansion of charging points under the 'Green Charger' initiative helps to keep pace with the growing number of electric vehicles and provides users with a seamless and fast experience, which enhances Dubai's position as a global destination for living, working, and visiting. DEWA offers four types of 'Green Charger' stations: ultra-fast charging, fast charging, public place chargers, and wall-mounted chargers.
