Stories born from memory and heritage, awakened by the scent of agarwood and incense, have been embodied by the perfume house «Fakhr Al Emirates» in a new innovation that re-presents this local heritage in elegant bottles, instead of traditionally burning incense and agarwood, supporting concepts of sustainability and conservation of natural resources. The Emirati house unveiled two perfumes, «Oud of the Future» and «Bukhoor of the Future,» in Dubai during an evening steeped in the authenticity of Emirati heritage. The fragrances were previously launched in London, Paris, and Barcelona, reflecting the country's vision of innovation and sustainability, linking the rich heritage with the spirit of the future. About this innovation, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of «Fakhr Al Emirates,» Mohammed Ibrahim Al Blooshi, told «Al Ittihad»: «The two perfumes are distinctive and different from the ones the house has launched before. They are perfumes for the future, where heritage and what is deeply rooted in the local culture has been transformed into a perfume product used worldwide. The perfumers who worked on these fragrances were chosen with great care, considering the distinguished perfumers in the Gulf who are familiar with the heritage and work with local ingredients, and who understand local taste preferences». He noted that the technology used in producing the perfumes is applied in other fields, but it is the first time in the world that this technology has been used to transform burning incense and agarwood into a wearable perfume. He highlighted that Dubai is the capital of luxury perfumery in the region, and all major companies seek to have a presence in the Emirati market. There are also many international companies that have sought to produce agar-based products, but what distinguishes these two perfumes is that the agar is local. Al Blooshi mentioned that these products were launched in London, Paris, and Barcelona and received worldwide acclaim. Al Blooshi believes that brands that seek to showcase local culture and history are the ones that grow and achieve sustainability in the market, adding that they are constantly committed to sustainability in the production process, from perfumery to packaging. On the other hand, perfumer Olaf Larsen spoke about the innovation of «Oud of the Future,» saying: «We were asked to create a perfume with the scent of burning agarwood, which was a huge challenge. It took about a year of experiments to reach this perfume, which carries the scent of burnt agarwood without smoke». He explained that the production process of the perfume is about reconstructing the fire from agarwood chips, not adding agarwood to perfumes. He mentioned that the technical process was full of challenges and added: «We burned agarwood chips and then collected the smoke in a container. We then used a fiber that absorbs scents and melted the materials. After that, we injected the dissolved materials into a special device to identify the different components of that scent. Then, we went back to the various aromatic ingredients and studied what could be combined to recreate that specific scent». He believes that «this perfume allows the user to experience a deep dive into Emirati culture and can be used in daily life and mixed with any other perfumes, and it will create a wonderful blend». Olaf Larsen: «This perfume allows the user to experience a deep dive into Emirati culture and can be used in daily life and mixed with any other perfumes».
