UAE Approves Ramadan Inspection Plan

The UAE Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection has approved a comprehensive plan for Ramadan market inspections. The initiative includes enforcement, awareness campaigns, and sector cooperation to ensure price stability and consumer rights. Over 155,000 inspections were conducted in 2025.


UAE Approves Ramadan Inspection Plan

The Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection, during its first meeting of 2026, yesterday, approved a comprehensive regulatory plan for the month of Ramadan. The plan was developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and various federal and local authorities responsible for market surveillance. This plan includes inspection tours, awareness efforts, and cooperation with the consumer and cooperative sectors to ensure the empowerment of sound commercial practices, enhance compliance levels in markets, prevent commercial fraud, and guarantee price stability and the availability of goods. The committee, chaired by Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, reviewed the key efforts and achievements in developing the legislative and regulatory environment to protect consumers and provide a safe consumer climate in the markets, within the framework of enhancing national integration to ensure market stability and protect consumer rights. The committee also reviewed the main results and indicators achieved by the Ministry and concerned authorities. Specialized teams from the Ministry and economic development departments across the country's emirates conducted 155,218 inspection tours during 2025, resulting in 7,702 violations. The Ministry received 3,167 complaints through its website, which were handled with high efficiency, resolving 93.9% of them. Bin Touq affirmed that the legislative environment for protecting consumer rights in the country has witnessed qualitative developments during the past period, as a comprehensive national policy for pricing basic consumer goods was adopted, in accordance with Cabinet Decision No. (120) of 2022 concerning the rules and controls for pricing consumer goods in the country.
