Docap, a leading provider of integrated energy solutions in the United Arab Emirates and an Emirati manufacturer of high-quality cables and wires, has achieved a major milestone by successfully completing the first Extended Pre-Qualification (EPQ) testing in the Middle East. The tests were conducted in collaboration with Swiss company Brugg Cables, a leading provider of specialized high-voltage accessories. The Extended Pre-Qualification (EPQ) and System Type Test for Extra High Voltage (EHV) cables rated at 400 kV at an emergency temperature of 105°C is the first of its kind in the region. This achievement enhances Docap's technological leadership and confirms its competitive position on the international stage. This success marks a significant leap in technical cooperation, achieved in coordination with the Swiss Brugg Cables group, a leader in high-voltage cable manufacturing and technology, known for its research, quality, and comprehensive testing capabilities. The partnership also included Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), a government-owned energy holding company based in Abu Dhabi, and DEKRA, the world's largest independent, non-listed inspection, testing, and certification body. The strategic importance of Docap lies in its unique position: it has become the sole supplier within the energy suppliers' list that has approved accessory suppliers – SEI and Brugg Cables. The tests were conducted in accordance with IEEE, IEC, and AEIC international standards, paving the way for Docap's expansion into the American and European markets. This achievement gives Docap a strategic advantage in projects involving Extra High Voltage cable systems and enhances its ability to serve regional power utilities and new international customers with greater speed and efficiency. In a statement, Charles Edouard Milagi, Executive Director of Cables at Docap, said: 'The success of the Brugg Cables test reinforces Docap's pioneering reputation in technology and innovation, and opens up new opportunities for us in Europe and beyond. We are happy to accelerate our efforts to bring high-quality, high-voltage cables from the UAE to the world.' In turn, Gianluca Vitesi, CEO of Brugg Cables, stated: 'We are proud to support Docap in achieving this important test (EPQ), which highlights the strength of our technical cooperation and our shared commitment to delivering world-class high-voltage cable systems that meet the highest international standards.' Brugg Cables' specialized testing services for high and extra high voltage cables (up to 550 kV) use a large Faraday cage and field diagnostic techniques to ensure the safety, insulation, and performance of the cables. The key tests include AC voltage tests, Partial Discharge (PD) measurements on cable joints, and sheath tests.
