Beekeepers from the United Arab Emirates have won 29 various awards, including 21 gold, 6 silver, and 2 platinum, at the 'International Honey Award Paris 2026' (PIHA). The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority also won three awards: a gold for Sidr honey, a gold for liquid dark honey, and a silver for crystallized Ghaf honey. This triumph reflects the advanced level of Emirati honey products, the quality of local bee breeds, and the development of the production system led by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority in accordance with global best practices. This enhances the position of Emirati honey in global markets and confirms its quality and competitiveness. Acting Deputy Director General for Operational Affairs at the Authority, Ahmed Khalid Othman, stated that this achievement is a testament to the significant progress made by the UAE in beekeeping and honey production, thanks to the continuous support of the wise leadership, the efforts of beekeepers, and the development programs implemented by the Authority. He added that the Authority's three awards and the large number of gold medals won by the country's beekeepers at one of the world's most prestigious competitions reflect the quality of our national products and their ability to compete globally. This motivates us to continue developing local bee breeds and fostering innovation in this vital sector. He explained that these international awards serve as an incentive to continue investing in the development of the Emirati bee breed, improving the production system, and enhancing the presence of Emirati honey in global markets. The Authority confirmed that it will continue its efforts to develop training and guidance programs and expand applied research related to local bee breeds and honey quality, contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of the national product and raising quality standards in regional and global markets.
