The Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment (DDSE) has launched the Dubai Labor Force Survey 2024 to understand the current state of the workforce in the emirate. This initiative aims to provide relevant government entities with accurate data to develop plans for creating job opportunities for national talents. The survey will estimate the size of the labor force, identify key indicators related to employment and unemployment, and provide up-to-date statistics on the demographic, social, and economic aspects of the population as well as the labor force and economically active individuals.
Younus Al Nasser, the Chief Executive Officer of DDSE, emphasized the importance of the survey in providing decision-makers with precise data concerning the characteristics of the population and the labor force. The survey will measure unemployment rates, levels of Emiratisation, professional and digital skill levels, and their alignment with the labor market demands. This year, a hybrid approach will be used to conduct the survey.
The survey, part of DDSE's strategic plan, supports Dubai's Social Agenda D33 goals to enhance opportunities for all segments of society. Privacy and information security standards will be strictly followed during the survey. The data collected will help in developing plans and strategies to support national talents and improve job opportunities in Dubai, contributing to the emirate's economic growth and the goals of Dubai's economy, particularly the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
Field surveys in Dubai play a crucial role in understanding the reality and assisting decision-makers in establishing strategies, policies, and development programs. The data collected from the Labor Force Survey will be analyzed to identify various characteristics of the population and the labor force, including both employed and unemployed individuals, and their conditions. The survey aims to target 5,500 households across different communities in Dubai.
To ensure active participation, the survey will offer telephone interviews, email, and field visits for personal interviews with household members and labor camp residents. The survey will take place from 1st October to 21st November 2024, adhering to national and international standards in data collection.
