Dubai International Arbitration Centre Expands Role

The International Arbitration Centre of Dubai (DIAC), the largest arbitration institution in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, has announced the launch of a new service that provides parties with the opportunity to conduct virtual hearings. The service was developed in response to the changing needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic, to ensure a more flexible and convenient dispute resolution solution for participants from different countries.

According to an official statement from DIAC, virtual hearings will be accessible to all cases considered in the framework of arbitration, if the parties agree to such a format. This initiative aims to provide a more effective process for resolving disputes, considering restrictions related to relocations and personal presence.

The primary goal of the new service is to ensure that parties have the opportunity to participate in hearings regardless of the physical location of the participants and circumstances, which facilitates saving time and costs in organizing the process.

"We strive to ensure maximum comfort and accessibility for all arbitration participants, offering them the opportunity to participate in hearings online. Our goal is to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the dispute resolution process in any circumstances," noted a representative of DIAC.

Thus, the implementation of virtual hearings is an important step for DIAC towards modern technologies and innovations in the field of alternative dispute resolution.
