The international collector of men's rings, Victor Gasto, has opened an exhibition of his unique collection in Dubai. He asserts that the main thing in collecting is not quantity and price, but passion and love for it. The exhibition includes various themes, including medieval, ancient, and even Christian motifs. Gasto emphasized that many rings from his collection have complex hand engravings and a rich history, including a ring from the collection of renowned jazz musician Django Reinhardt. He also noted the popularity of the culture of men's rings in the Gulf countries and the eastern region.
Gasto's collection is considered one of the most significant and extensive in the world, including rings from different eras and styles. He highlights the fact that collecting should start with a modest collection, gradually populating and improving it, driven by passion rather than striving for expensive exemplars. For example, one of the most precious rings for Gasto is a gift from his father for his 25th birthday, which is valued not for its price, but for its emotional attachment.
The exhibition titled "Men's Rings: Collection by Iv Gasto" in Dubai showcases 600 rings from a total of 1,000 exemplars. Here, there are both antique pieces, some of which have been in the collection for over 300 years, and modern rings. Victor Gasto pointed out that the collection was inherited from his father, who began collecting over 30 years ago. He describes the collection as "democratic and diverse," containing both simple and rare exemplars, which invites respect for each piece and does not base the collection primarily on money, but on passion.
Overall, Gasto's collection of men's rings represents a unique blend of history, craftsmanship, and personal attachment, emphasizing the importance of passion and love for the art of collecting.
