Dubai Celebrates Clean Energy Day with Women's Empowerment Discussions

The Electricity and Water Authority in Dubai (DEWA) hosted two activities within the framework of the celebration of "International Day of Renewable Energy", which coincides with January 26 of each year. The activities are "Renewable Energy Talk" and "Women in Diplomacy" organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the global agency for renewable energy (IRENA). In this context, the authority revealed that Emirati women represent 84.83% of its total female workforce. In her statements, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Amina bint Abdullah Al-Hashimi, said, "On International Day of Renewable Energy, we must not only celebrate the progress and opportunities provided by renewable energy, but we must reaffirm our collective commitment to immediate action to accelerate the global transition for the energy sector, and ensure no one is left behind; this is a fundamental condition for building a future that contributes to renewable energy while pushing development and protecting our planet for future generations". On his part, the member of the elected board and CEO of the Electricity and Water Authority, Saeed Mohammed Al-Tayer, indicated that the "Renewable Energy Talk" activity serves as an interaction platform that brings together permanent representatives of the global agency for renewable energy and decision-makers in the UAE diplomatic community, and experts. The activity aims to explore opportunities and exchange best practices in the renewable and clean energy sector, with a focus on renewable energy solutions as a foundation for a sustainable future. As for the "Women in Diplomacy" activity, it highlights the leading and pivotal role of women working in the diplomatic realm in the renewable energy sector and addressing the challenges of climate change. Al-Tayer confirmed that the authority employs 1938 employees working in all its administrations, including 797 employees in the engineering and technical sector, making it the largest in the country.
