The Authority of Culture and Arts in Dubai, "Dubai for Culture", in collaboration with the Sarcal Arts Foundation, unveiled the artistic installation "Ringing the Winds" which was executed in the historical Al Shindagha district, as part of the strategy "Art in Public Spaces". The Authority aims to provide unique artistic experiences to enhance the status of Dubai and its identity, and to transform it into an open and accessible global art exhibition.
The work "Ringing the Winds" was executed under the supervision of the artistic curator Munira Al Sayegh, and features the designs of artist Maryam Namour and architect Nadi Salmabour. The work consists of three suspended metal panels reflecting the visual and auditory elements of the historical Al Shindagha area, making it an invitation to reflect and listen to the interaction between the winds, water, and architecture, and to contemplate the time of life.
Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, the Executive Director of the Arts, Design, and Literature sector at "Dubai for Culture", affirmed that art in public spaces is considered an important part of the creative expressions that Dubai embraces. He explained that the historical Al Shindagha area serves as a witness to the stages of the establishment and development of architecture, reflecting his hope that the artistic work grants visitors moments of contemplation that enhance identity and belonging to the place.
The artistic curator, Munira Al Sayegh, pointed out the importance of art in society and its positive impact, emphasizing the role of the work "Ringing the Winds" in enhancing cultural dialogue and enriching the artistic scene in Dubai. Designers Maryam Namour and architect Nadi Salmabour confirmed that the work reflects the experience of existence in the Al Shindagha area and utilizes alternative artistic means.
This installation comes as part of the "Luma" initiative launched by "Dubai for Culture" in collaboration with "Sarcal for the Arts", aiming to execute various artistic works in several areas in Dubai, enhancing interaction with nature and contributing to the flourishing of local artistic practices.
