Emirati Professor Praises Filipino Taxi Passengers

Emirati professor Tain worked as a taxi driver and discovered that Filipinos are always polite and constantly leave tips. Ammar Shams, a law professor at the British University in Dubai, shared this revelation in an Instagram post by Dennis Mallari. Shams arranged to work as a taxi driver for two months in 2023 to better understand the residents of Dubai and the place where he spent most of his life.

"Small as they were - two or five dirhams, - but every time a Filipino sat in my taxi, he left me a tip," Shams said. He noted that Filipinos always referred to him politely: "Thank you for being you," he said.

Shams also noted that Filipinos were among the most polite and respectful passengers he encountered. He expressed gratitude to all Filipinos for their behavior and frequent tips.

"One nationality, one group of people, constantly, without exception, gave me tips," Shams pointed out. The author of the video noted that the sizes of the tips were small, but what mattered was the consistency in the offering of tips, which struck Shams during his time working as a taxi driver.
