
More than 4,700 participants from various countries and age groups took part in the cycling race "Challenge Spinneys Dubai 92", organized as part of the global calendar of the World Cycling Association and included in the World Grand Prix, with the support of the Dubai Sports Council. 350 participants from 11 age categories qualified for the World Championship in cycling, which will take place in October in the Australian state of Victoria.
At the race, held under the fiftieth jubilee's logo and starting in the Expo Dubai arena, government representatives participated, including Abdul Al-Falasi, Sami Al-Kamzi, Makhmamed Al-Kabisi, and many other sports leaders. Italian Francesco Lamon and Kazakhstani Makhambat Umurzhanov became the winners in the general classification for men and women, finishing the race with times of 2:01:47 and 2:01:49, respectively.
The second place was taken by Russian Maxim Orechov with a time of 2:01:47 and Dutch Jaspar Verkeyn with a time of 2:01:47. Egyptian Ibtisam Zaid and Lithuanian Alevi Jadratite completed the race, finishing only seconds apart.
Winners in the "Best Sprinter" category with the support of ASTUR were Sean Kerry and Hilly Bakhoven during the final grand tour. In the adult category, Simon Cox and Adriana Sanchez each won in blue jerseys in the large final, clocking times of 2:01:51 and 2:15:46, respectively.
Director of the "Challenge Spinneys Dubai 92" cycling event Stuart Hawison commented: "The fiftieth race was astonishing in every scale, with more than seven thousand participants and new record indicators this year. We take pride that such a large number of cyclists have qualified for the World Championship in cycling 2025 in Australia, which attests to the growing popularity of cycling in the region."
