
A fishing championship was organized and successfully completed for catching gray mullet and tiger grouper at the Dubai International Club of Marine Sports. The events featured newly established records that confirm the growth of popularity and professionalism in this type of sport. The total weight of caught fish at the end of the competitions amounted to 804 kg. 32 fish participated in the actual competitions, including 22 gray mullet and 10 tiger grouper. All of them were caught over the last 5 consecutive days of the competition.
The organizers highlighted the total weight of participating fish for charity, while the association "Bait Al-Hair" is engaged in the distribution in the name of humanitarian aid. This initiative is recorded in the club's efforts towards humanitarian and social values, strengthening the culture of mutual assistance and cooperation and the construction of a strong and united community in line with their activities under the slogan "Hand in Hand".
The competitions attracted significant attention from participants and spectators. On the podium stood participant Mukhammed Yusuf az-Zarkuni, who took third place in both categories — gray mullet (31.7 kg) and tiger grouper (28.6 kg). Of them, he caught the first on the second day of the competition, and the latter — on the third. Another participant, Saeed Mukhammed Jabir al-Meyri, took ninth place, catching gray mullet a total of 26.9 kg and 24.1 kg. Meanwhile, another participant, Abdullakh Akhmed al-Meyri, caught two gray mullet and tiger grouper weighing 18 kg and 26.6 kg, respectively. Another participant, Taheer Abdularashid Ramadan, caught three gray mullet weighing a total of 21.7 kg, 19.4 kg, and 15 kg. Participant Lamia as-Saikeli took fifth place, having caught two tiger grouper weighing a total of 26.3 kg and 20.8 kg.
