The Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the implementation of a free Wi-Fi service concurrently with the Etisalat company at 17 public bus stations and 12 marine transport stations as part of an initiative to improve the passenger experience. This service allows users of public transport to stay connected through their smartphones, tablets, and laptops during the journey.
As Khaled Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, Director of the Transport Systems Service of the RTA, stated, "We have installed Wi-Fi devices at 29 bus and marine stations, and the goals are to expand the service to all 43 RTA stations — including 21 bus stations and 22 marine transport stations." This initiative is part of RTA's continuous efforts to accelerate the digital transformation of all its services, targeting various segments of society in line with the UAE vision.
Moreover, this reflects RTA's commitment to improving the daily travel experience, making bus and marine transport journeys more pleasant and comfortable, contributing to the realization of Dubai's ambition to become the smartest and happiest city in the world. "The Wi-Fi service will continue to be evaluated for the enhancement of its expansion and improvement jointly with the Etisalat company, ensuring the highest quality of connectivity for passengers using buses and marine transport across the global community," added Al Awadhi.
It is expected that the remaining installations will be completed by the second quarter of 2025.
