The Authority of Culture and Arts in Dubai (Dubai Culture) is presenting a series of discussions and workshops for the leaders of its public libraries as part of the 'Library Talks' initiative affiliated with the 'School of Life' project. As part of this initiative, an event titled 'Poetry Night' will be held yesterday at Al-Safa Library on the occasion of World Poetry Day, featuring a group of prominent poets such as Ahmad Al-Asim, Amal Al-Sahrawi, Najah Al-Zaheri, Darin Shabeer, and Mus'ab Beirut. The agenda will also include a session titled 'Literary Liberation... A Necessity or a Luxury' at Al-Safa Library on April 11th.
In another context, the Jumaa Al-Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai hosted a virtual lecture titled 'Contemporary Trends in Research Related to Manuscripts' presented by Dr. Ghanem Qaddoury Al-Hmad, a professor of Quranic studies at Tikrit University in Iraq. The lecture witnessed the attendance of more than 100 researchers and enthusiasts in the field.
The selection of the lecture topic was the result of the increased interest in manuscripts over the past years, whether among researchers in the history of the Noble Quran from Muslims or Orientalists. The lecture addressed the efforts of researchers in the cataloging of manuscripts and their modern publishing, in addition to studies, descriptions, and analyses related to these manuscripts and shed light on the topics and aesthetic elements within them. During his presentation, Dr. Al-Hmad used illustrated examples from some of the manuscripts.
