Dubai Police Investigates Post-Match Violence

Dubai Police began investigating the incidents of fans without tickets that occurred yesterday after the match between "Al-Wasl" and "Shabab Al-Ahli" at the Zabeel Stadium as part of the 23rd round of the Pro League tournament.

An insider in the law enforcement agencies reported: "Dubai police began investigating the incidents immediately after the match ended and are analyzing videotapes from surveillance cameras to identify the individuals involved in possible violations or offenses, after which necessary measures will be taken against them." Fans exchanged video recordings, in which clashes between some fans of both teams were seen after the match, while forces began to contain the situation. Some actions of certain fanatics in the stadium were opposed by one of the players and organizers.

An insider clarified that "Dubai police are fully prepared to ensure safety at all sporting events, including football matches, and pay great attention to mass events, such as the match yesterday," indicating that "certain violations occurred from the side of a small group of fans, and legal measures will be taken against them in relation to their serious violations of safety at the stadiums."

The match yesterday was the first win for "Shabab Al-Ahli" this season, as "Al-Wasl" won with a score of 2-1, and the atmosphere in the stands escalated after the end of the game, with some disturbances occurring from a small number of spectators. Not long ago, Dubai police pre-empted the incident of fans without tickets, during which two spectators used a "red flag" signal (common), located at the football match, which poses a serious threat and danger for those present in the vicinity of the sporting venue.

Forces called on spectators to comply with Federal Law No. 68 of 2014 on the safety of sporting venues and events, to prevent the danger of using hazardous materials, pyrotechnics, or combustible materials at the stadiums. They emphasized that anyone violating the law, which protects safety and order at the stadiums, ensuring the safety of spectators inside and outside the stadiums, as well as ensuring the safe transportation and providing any necessary services before, during, and after matches, will face legal measures.

Spectators asked to demonstrate the sports spirit and comply with the law during support, reflecting the bright image of OAA and the high level of organizing sporting events.

Moreover, it was learned that incidents of the match between "Al-Wasl" and "Shabab Al-Ahli" will be considered by the disciplinary committee at the next meeting, to address incidents involving part of the fans of both teams and some players. The match observer, who addressed such questions, recorded all his observations regarding the incidents that occurred and will forward them to the relevant bodies of the Football Federation for consideration. The "Shabab Al-Ahli" media was preparing to celebrate victory in the championship outside their territory at the Zabeel Stadium, had their team won the match, as "Shabab Al-Ahli" just needed to draw, but they lost the match.
