A flight attendant has revealed why cabin crew members are cautious and discreet when serving water to passengers. Barbara Patchellieri, who has worked as a flight attendant for 14 years, explained in a video on her TikTok and YouTube accounts that her colleagues try to serve water secretly, without other passengers noticing. Although water is usually free on board, the crew is careful and discreet when a passenger asks for a glass of water. Barbara explained this as an attempt to avoid a 'domino effect.' She stated, 'The water is already poured.' According to her, if one passenger sees a flight attendant carrying a glass of water, the others will start asking for it too. She pointed out that this collective request can disrupt the entire service, especially on long flights where meal distribution takes a long time. 'That's why when we carry water, we try to hide it,' she said, emphasizing that this is not an official airline policy but a trick that flight attendants learn from experience.
