Dubai's Culture and Arts Authority, 'Dubai for Culture', has launched the 30th edition of the 'Art Map', prepared in collaboration with 'The Jam Jar' studio. The map provides a comprehensive overview of all art galleries, as well as the main festivals, events, and cultural and artistic activities taking place in Dubai and the UAE. This initiative is part of the Authority's commitment and responsibility to create a creative and positive environment and to provide effective platforms that support and empower intellectuals, thinkers, and entrepreneurs, reinforcing Dubai's status as a global hub for the creative economy.
The new edition explores the features of the local cultural scene, characterized by its vitality and diversity in artistic activities that highlight the richness of Dubai's cultural dynamism. It also sheds light on a number of key events that Dubai and the UAE are hosting this season, including the 11th edition of 'Dubai Design Week', organized in strategic partnership with Dubai Design District, part of TECOM Group, and supported by 'Dubai for Culture' from November 4th to 9th. Additionally, it covers the reopening of 'Tashkeel' center and its unique art exhibitions. The 'Art Map' also showcases a series of cultural initiatives by the Authority, including the first Dubai Youth Performing Arts Festival and its diverse experiences in theater, music, and folk arts.
The new edition dedicates significant space to highlighting the importance of the 27th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Dubai 2025), which Dubai is hosting for the first time in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia from November 11th to 17th under the theme 'Museums in a Rapidly Changing Society'. In this context, it features a series of dialogues with the Director General of Sharjah Museums, Manal Ataya, and the founder of the architectural studio 'The Dada Studio', architect Adib Dada, who focus on the significance of this global event and its role in enhancing the capabilities of the museum sector and shaping its future.
The 'Art Map' also spotlights prominent artists and curators in the UAE and the region, including the Exhibition Curator at the Jameel Arts Centre, Lucas Morin; Emirati artist Sara Al Kaabi; international artist Issam Krayej; and artists Azza Al Zahiri and Ayah Ghdran, who are currently showcasing their work in Sharjah.
Furthermore, the edition covers the achievements of 'Jern Art' and '1x1 Art Gallery' as they celebrate 30 years since their establishment, as well as Christie's Dubai, which held its first art auction 20 years ago. It also includes the key art exhibitions hosted at Alserkal Avenue, such as the group exhibition 'The Shape of Things to Come', curated by Dexter Wimberly and featuring works by international artists including sculptor Il Antsui and artist Iman Issa, among others. The arts supplement of this issue addresses the theme of sustainability and its relationship with public art and green art spaces.
