Dubai Opera to Premiere Wicked Musical in 2026

Broadway Entertainment and Dubai Opera have unveiled the principal cast for the premiere of the musical "Wicked," which will run at Dubai Opera from January 28 to February 15, 2026. This marks the first production of the musical in the United Arab Emirates, featuring a lineup of distinguished actors from London's West End and around the world, creating a unique blend of talents that has made the world's most popular musical a global phenomenon.

The musical takes the audience on a journey through the enchanted world before arriving at the iconic land of Oz. It tells the story of two young women: the beautiful and ambitious Glinda, and the intelligent but misunderstood Elphaba, who has green skin. An unexpected friendship forms between them, which quickly turns into a thrilling rivalry that determines their destinies, leading one to become the Good Witch of the North, Glinda, and the other, the Wicked Witch of the West.

The two exceptionally talented leads, trained at the prestigious Guildford School of Acting, will give the audience a chance to experience a West End show in the heart of Dubai. Rebecca Loweing will play Elphaba, the green-skinned girl who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, and is known for her distinctive stage presence and ability to sing in a high vocal range.

Also starring as Glinda, the Good Witch, is Eve Shaw-Wilson, whose soprano voice and captivating charm make her the perfect choice for the iconic role. Olivier Award-winner Michael Mouser will play Prince Fiyero, whose heart is torn between two extraordinary women.

Meanwhile, Penelope Woodman will play Madame Morrible, leveraging her extensive experience and esteemed status as one of the leading stars of the West End and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Woodman has participated in numerous renowned theatrical productions. Graham McDuff will appear as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, bringing his own unique flair and distinctive comedic sense to the Emerald City. Michael Khoury will play Boq, one of the beloved and sincere Munchkins from Oz, who, like the other characters, embarks on an emotionally impactful journey.

The production is completed by the presence of Madeleine Charlotte Hargrave as Nessarose, and Miles Harvey Western as Doctor Dillamont. This exceptional production also features a talented troupe filled with distinguished artists of international experience, who are permanent fixtures in acclaimed West End shows.
