WhatsApp updates iPhone app with multi-account support

WhatsApp introduces a multi-account feature for iPhone, allowing users to manage personal and professional profiles in one app. Learn how it works.

WhatsApp updates iPhone app with multi-account support

WhatsApp has released a new update that allows iPhone users to manage multiple accounts on a single device. This highly anticipated feature is now available to a limited number of beta testers, with plans to expand it to more users in the coming weeks. The core idea is to enable users to easily manage multiple accounts while keeping chat histories and settings separate for each one. During this beta phase, users can add up to two accounts within the app. Each account is fully isolated, maintaining its own settings, notifications, privacy, and backups. To switch between accounts, users can use a new 'Account List' section in settings, long-press the settings tab at the bottom of the screen, or double-tap it. When a message arrives in an inactive account, the app displays a notification showing the sender's name along with the account name, which reduces confusion. This update is particularly significant for users who rely on multiple numbers for communication in different contexts.
