The 'Yad Al-Khair' Committee at the Dubai Rental Dispute Settlement Center has launched a new initiative to support individuals facing difficulties in rental disputes. The initiative coincides with Union Day and the year 2026, which has been designated as the 'Year of the Family' by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State. In an interview with 'Al-Ittihad' newspaper, the committee explained that the initiative aims to assist 185 humanitarian cases facing hardship due to rental disputes. The committee's work is carried out under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the State, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. A first instance judge, Chairman of the 'Yad Al-Khair' Committee at the Dubai Rental Dispute Settlement Center, Judge Abdulaziz Anohi, announced the launch of a new initiative to support those in need. The initiative is implemented in cooperation with several concerned parties and charitable organizations. Judge Anohi emphasized that the 'Yad Al-Khair' Committee, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has supported a large number of beneficiary families since the beginning of 2025, with the total exceeding 300 families. This reflects the community's confidence in the committee's humanitarian role and its constant commitment to supporting and stabilizing families in the emirate of Dubai. He confirmed that since its launch in 2017, the 'Yad Al-Khair' Committee has been one of the most prominent humanitarian initiatives, embodying the values of solidarity and generosity in Emirati society. Judge Anohi noted that the committee has intensified its efforts this year to support families in difficult situations and ensure their social stability. He stressed that the 'Yad Al-Khair' Committee serves as an inspiring model for institutional charitable work within the judicial framework, combining the human duty with the spirit of justice in handling rental disputes. He affirmed that its work under the umbrella of the Dubai Rental Dispute Settlement Center reflects a balance between legal fairness and social support. Judge Anohi pointed out that the committee's mandate aligns with the vision of 'Community Year 2025' and its slogan 'Hand in Hand,' as directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State. This enhances the values of cohesion and cooperation as the foundation for building a strong and prosperous society. Judge Anohi indicated that the committee has sought to establish strategic partnerships with several charitable organizations this year, recognizing the importance of integrating efforts between the public and private sectors in supporting community initiatives. He stated that these partnerships have contributed to expanding the scope of support and maximizing the social and economic impact through cooperation with organizations such as: 'Bait Al-Khair,' 'Tarahum,' 'Dubai Islamic Bank,' 'The Endowments and Palace Administration,' and the 'Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.' Judge Anohi mentioned that donations from individuals and institutions are a cornerstone of funding the committee's work and its initiatives, contributing to the sustainability of charitable projects and expanding the circle of beneficiaries, as well as spreading a culture of giving and social responsibility among community members. He added that the committee is currently exploring the possibility of launching new community support campaigns in cooperation with partners and media to raise awareness of its goals and encourage individual contributions. He confirmed that these campaigns align with the directives of His Highness the President of the State designating 2026 as the 'Year of the Family,' which will enhance family stability and deepen the values of family bonds. Judge Anohi also highlighted several cases that illustrate the committee's role. Among them is the case of a tenant in custody over a rental matter, for which coordination was made with judicial authorities to pay the accumulated dues to preserve the stability of his family. He also mentioned a case of a family consisting of a mother and two daughters, for which a settlement was reached after confirming their eligibility for assistance, with the committee covering the full amount due to ensure their continuous stability. He noted that the committee also supported a woman without a breadwinner who faced a prison sentence due to a rental debt, and she was helped to maintain her family's cohesion. Regarding the future vision of the 'Yad Al-Khair' Committee, Judge Anohi confirmed that it operates according to an institutional plan to develop its performance in the coming years by employing digital technologies in case studies and request management, which will enhance service efficiency and quality. He pointed out that the committee prioritizes strengthening cooperation with government bodies and the private sector, as well as launching awareness programs to promote a culture of rental responsibility in society. Judge Anohi stated that working in the 'Yad Al-Khair' Committee is a profound human experience that embodies the concept of social justice, and affirmed that justice is not complete until it strikes a balance between right and mercy. The law exists to protect rights, while mercy represents the essence and spirit of legislation in Dubai. Judge Anohi praised the role of the community and supporting organizations and their participation in judicial humanitarian initiatives, confirming that the 'Yad Al-Khair' Committee aims to be a bridge connecting justice and humanity, and that the impact of charitable work extends to family stability and strengthening social cohesion in the emirate of Dubai. The committee relies on strict criteria in its work, including assessing the social and health status, the value of the debt, sources of income, previous payment compliance, and supporting documents, ensuring that assistance reaches those most in need. These efforts are in line with the wise leadership of the state, which places human work at the forefront of its priorities and supports the most needy segments through charitable and social initiatives that enhance the values of mercy and solidarity in society.
