With the first threads of evening, flocks of flamingos return to their nests in the lakes of Khor al-Adab in Dubai, a scene that encapsulates the charm of nature and the ecological diversity that Dubai hosts in its nature reserves. Khor al-Adab Nature Reserve is one of the most prominent natural reserves in the emirate of Dubai, located within the Saih Al Salam desert area. It was established to be a unique model for balancing the desert environment and wildlife. The reserve includes a number of artificial lakes that have over time become a primary habitat for more than 170 species of resident and migratory birds, including flamingos, ducks, geese, and swimmers. It also hosts species of gazelles and desert foxes.
