Mohammed bin Rashid Library Celebrates World Flower Day

In honor of World Flower Day, which is celebrated on January 19, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library is organizing a cultural and artistic event decorated with the beauty of flowers and its symbolism in poetry, art, and music. The program, which is diverse, combines literary and visual creativity and reflects the status of flowers as a common human language that transcends cultures.

The program includes a live painting exhibition titled "Feather of Flower", with the participation of a select group of artists from the UAE and residents. Flowers will become a living subject that is painted in the moment, celebrated as a common artistic language that brings the artist and the audience together in one space.

The program also includes a cultural session that sheds light on the symbolism of flowers in world literature and the diversity of its meanings across eras. It discusses their presence in literary texts and what different cultures have expressed through them, with the participation of Dr. Samar Diab, and the session will be moderated by Maria Tormoush.

Additionally, the program includes a poetry evening that celebrates the beauty of the rose in the poems of poets as a romantic symbol of love and life, with the participation of poets Ahmed Al-Akhras, Alaa Khadar, and Yasser Abdelqader. The evening will be moderated by media personality Wael Issa, and selected readings that evoke the presence of the rose in the Arab imagination will be presented.

The event will conclude with a musical concert titled "O Rose, You Are a Miracle!", which celebrates the presence of flowers in the Arab musical memory as a musical and aesthetic theme. It will be performed by artist Merna Malawi and a group of musicians through a bouquet of musical and vocal works inspired by the beauty and meanings of the rose. The Dubai National Theatre's choir will participate in this evening.

This event comes as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library's vision, which aims to enhance the cultural and artistic scene and open up interactive spaces that bring together various forms of creative expression in a human celebration of beauty that connects literature, art, and music with society and the family.
