Al Dhafra Hosts Poetry Night in Memory of Al Hamli Brothers

Yesterday, as part of the Al Dhafra Book Festival, organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, a poetry session titled «Voices That Never Fade: A Tribute to the Al Hamli Brothers» was held. The event was a tribute to the brothers, who are considered among the most prominent poetic voices in the Al Dhafra region and left behind a rich poetic legacy deeply connected to the soul of the people. The evening, part of the «Poetry Nights: Voices Cherished by the People» program, featured poet and heritage researcher Ali Al Kandi Al Marr, singer Qasim Al Mamari, and percussionist Abdullah Abdul Karim. They recalled the lives of the two poets, their works, and their impact on Emirati folk poetry, especially the poems that were passed down by oral poets and sung at gatherings, becoming part of the Bedouin's auditory memory. The evening, hosted by media personality Hamad bin Hamoudi, began with a speech by researcher Ali Al Kandi Al Marr, who discussed the poets' biographies, their poetry, and their way of life. He mentioned that the older brother, Muhammad, was born in 1927 in Sahr in Liwa, where he led a nomadic life, moving from place to place, and his poems were characterized by depth despite their small number. His younger brother, Ammar, was born in Batain in 1935.
