UAE Initiative Promotes Zero-Emission Vehicles

The UAE's 'Road Initiative 2.0' aims to adopt zero-emission vehicles, targeting a 30% reduction in carbon emissions from commercial fleets by 2030 and 100% by 2040. Seventeen signatories support accelerating electric vehicle adoption with a push for collaboration in the commercial transport sector.


UAE Initiative Promotes Zero-Emission Vehicles

Individuals participating in the Road 2.0 initiative under the auspices of the Climate Alliance OAE have announced the publication of statements on the intended use of zero emissions from transportation in the country. The statement is aimed at assisting the union of efforts to accelerate the adoption of electric transportation in commercial fleets.

This initiative currently involves 17 participants, who are proposing efforts to test and expand the use of commercial electric transport in their fleets with the goal of reducing carbon emissions by 30% by 2030 and reaching 100% by 2040.

The Road 2.0 initiative is a breakthrough program aimed at reducing carbon emissions in commercial transport in the OAE and is supported by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. It is launched under the auspices of the Climate Alliance OAE, which leads the Ecological Society of OAE, serving as a charitable and non-profit ecological organization.

The goal of the participants in the Road 2.0 initiative is to introduce up to 6,000 zero-emission transportation vehicles by 2030, with a possible increase to 20,000 by 2040. According to statements from the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure for energy and oil engineer Sherifa Al-Ulama, transport is ready for widespread adoption in the OAE.
