Dubai Enhances Oud Metha Traffic Infrastructure

Dubai's Road Transport Authority has completed a series of enhancements to road mobility in the Udd Meta area as part of its Fast Transport Solutions Plan for 2024. These improvements focus on alleviating transportation flow and enhancing road safety for all users.

As part of the project, works were carried out to improve entry and exit points from Umm Khuraiir Street in Udd Meta, adding 317-meter-long gradual and stopping lanes for more convenient traffic flow. These modernizations aim to optimize Dubai's road network, in line with DTU's requirements for strengthening infrastructure for accommodating population expansion and growth.

Hamad Al-Shehi, Director of Road Transport at DTA, noted: "DTA has extended the street No. 2 to the Umm Khuraiir Ring to remove bottlenecks, conducted surface upgrades on the roundabouts, and increased the number of turning lanes from two to three. This has improved accessibility and exit for visitors, enhancing traffic flow in all directions."

Additionally, the exit from the service road onto Umm Khuraiir Street has been expanded from two to three lanes over a distance of 100 meters, increasing the road's throughput capability by 50% and reducing travel time by 40%. Al-Shehi also added: "DTA has implemented a series of rapid enhancements, including road lighting, to ensure smoother traffic flow and support both population growth and evolving business activity in Udd Meta."

Moreover, DTA has provided 27 parking spaces in this area for placing auto vendors, especially for commercial visitors, thereby increasing public satisfaction with infrastructure and roads, and reinforcing Dubai’s vision of being the best place to live.
