Dubai Municipality and the Community Development Authority (CDA) have collaborated on the 'Safe Water for a Healthy Community' initiative, aiming to safeguard household water from chemical and bacterial pollutants. The project targets enhancing water quality, particularly in residences of senior citizens.
The initiative kick-starts with inspections in 42 homes situated across 10 different areas in Dubai. Stressing the significance of safe water for overall well-being, the program underlines the necessity for a healthy water supply in maintaining daily comfort. In addition to inspections, public awareness sessions will be conducted by Dubai Municipality and CDA to educate locals about water hygiene, maintenance practices, and potential contamination risks.
Naseem Mohammed Rafee, the Acting CEO of Dubai Municipality's Environment, Health, and Safety Agency, emphasized the proactive approach of the initiative in bolstering public health protection, reinforcing water quality, and fortifying Dubai's sustainable health system. Muhannad Saeed, the Director of CDA's Senior Citizens Department, spotlighted the crucial role of the initiative in shielding the elderly from waterborne ailments.
The primary objective is to advocate for enduring water safety and promote sustainable living habits among residents. Residents, including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) renting or owning residences, are encouraged to engage Dubai Municipality-approved companies for cleaning and disinfecting their water tanks biannually.
Expert engineering teams will scrutinize water systems, gather samples, and subject them to analysis at Dubai Central Laboratory. In case of contamination detection, corrective measures will be promptly instituted to uphold safety standards.
