Ten illegal street vendors were arrested by Dubai police for selling food products in public places without adhering to health and safety standards. Vendors, lacking licenses, posed potential risks to public health, authorities stated. The action is linked to their ongoing campaign 'Creating a Community Free from Hunger' during the holy month.
"They operate in major labor migration areas, attracting clients with offers of food products in unsanitary conditions," - quotes a press release from the spokesperson Ahmad Al Aidi, deputy director of the anti-narcotics department of the Criminal Investigation Department.
Major Talib Al Amir, head of the street vendor control service, warned that products sold without a license on the streets and with transport means are often stored and displayed improperly, increasing the risk of foodborne illnesses. Dubai police, in collaboration with relevant authorities, continue round-the-clock patrols to identify and prevent violations.
"We urge residents to inform about illegal vendors to help maintain public health and safety," - the authorities reported.
