A specialist in sports medicine and physiotherapy from the Sharjah Women's Sports Institution, Maryam Al-Shahi, won the 'Young Researcher in Sports Medicine and Athletic Performance' award at the conclusion of the 2nd UAE Sports Medicine Conference. The conference, organized by the Emirates Society of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai Healthcare City, was attended by over 600 specialists from 25 countries. Al-Shahi received the award for her research titled 'Lower Limb Asymmetry and Change of Direction Performance: An Integrated Analysis of Explosive Strength Indicators in Female Athletes at the Sharjah Women's Sports Institution.' The research was highly praised by the conference's scientific committee for its practical value in enhancing the motor performance of female athletes and improving injury prevention and rehabilitation programs. The two-day conference featured 53 speakers from a select group of doctors and experts, presenting their research in 10 main sessions and five specialized workshops, alongside the presentation of 66 research papers covering the latest developments in sports medicine, rehabilitation, technology, artificial intelligence, women's sports, and regenerative medicine. Dr. Abdullah Al-Rahoomi, President of the Emirates Society of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, confirmed that the conference achieved remarkable success scientifically and organizationally, noting that six main recommendations were approved at its conclusion. These recommendations will be turned into practical initiatives in cooperation with the relevant sports and medical bodies in preparation for the third edition of the conference in 2026.
