UAE Authority Warns of Fraudulent Government Impersonation Calls

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority "Tdra" has warned about the spread of calls impersonating government entities to obtain individuals' personal data. The authority stated via its official social media accounts that it is essential for people to remember that government agencies do not request sensitive information over the phone and do not threaten to suspend services. In an awareness video, the authority showcased a real recording featuring a cloned voice claiming to represent the agency. The call aims to lure individuals by falsely claiming to have detected illegal activities on their registered communication number, threatening service suspension as a result. The authority added that to protect individuals' personal data, it is crucial to hang up and block the number when receiving such fraudulent calls that impersonate government bodies.
