Smartphone Cyber Threats on the Rise in 2025

Kaspersky reports a 29% surge in Android smartphone attacks in H1 2025. Threats include malware, adult apps, DDoS attacks, and VPNs intercepting SMS codes.

Kaspersky tracked a number of cyber threats to smartphones in 2025, such as malware. However, users were also exposed to other active threats, including adult-content applications that carry out Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, and a VPN application that intercepts login codes sent via SMS.

The second quarter of 2025 saw advanced cyber threats. A Kaspersky report revealed a 29% increase in attacks targeting users of Android smartphones in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, and a 48% increase compared to the second half of 2024.
