Despite the unusual cold experienced in Europe during February, the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service reported that the world experienced its fifth-warmest February on record. According to the monthly report released by the service yesterday, the global average temperature last February was 13.26°C, which is 0.53 degrees above the average for the 1991-2020 period. Samantha Burgess, Strategic Director of Climate at Copernicus, emphasized that these extreme weather events have highlighted the increasing impacts of climate change and the need for global action to address it.
